The car industry has been giving a marked impact on cities and the earth. We conceived a concept of “showroom where you can walk barefoot” for a car manufacturer’s showroom. We thought we need a space in which visitors can conceptually understand the good side and the bad side of the car-oriented society, and recognize them with their bodies. Our idea is to make a public space covered with turfs. Powder made of discarded car tires is used to cover the ground beforehand so that the surface becomes elastic enough not to damage the turfs. The plan is to arrange a car space and an office in a former basement car park on the site of a demolished building, and the green tract of land on the first floor is to provide a space for something like an environmental workshop. The plan was not implemented, however. Currently the space is used for a parking lot.
